National Register of Historic Places NC-North Carolina has 10 properties that have been recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.  The National Register of Historic Places is a list of buildings, objects, sites and areas deemed worthy of preservation because of their importance to the American history and culture. North Carolina has over 73,000 properties on the National Register of Historic Places.Those North Carolina sites added are:

  • Fort Caswell Historic District  (Oak Island)
  • James D. and Frances Sprunt Cottage (Wrightsville Beach)
  • Valentine-Wilder House  (Spring Hope area)
  • Oakdale Cemetery (Hendersonville)
  • Flat Top Estate  (Blowing Rock area)
