Weather alerts for NC. The state of NC will see the coldest weather and lowest temperatures in the state in over 10 years. Across the state cold air will cause the temperature to be in the single digits with blustery winds all day Tuesday causing the wind chill to be -0 degrees and lower in some areas. Below freezing temperatures will cover most of the state until about midday Wednesday. But Wednesday night the overnight temperature will drop below freezing again before warmer temperatures return later in the week and for the weekend.
Remember to take measures that will help prevent problems such as:
- check your vehicle’s antifreeze level
- have jumper cables in the vehicle in case your battery dies
- have appropriate coat, gloves and hat in vehicle in case you get stranded for a while
- bring the pets inside
- leave the inside water faucet on a slow drip (hot and cold)
- open cabinet doors under the sink so the heat in the home can keep the pipes warm
- unscrew outdoor water hoses from the spigot and wrap the spigot with a old rag and tape in place
