The NC Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC has opened today with a new exhibit of cars. The exhibit features the German-made Porsche, 22 Porsche are on display including: a 1938 Type 64 Berlin-Rom Racer; Steve McQueen’s 1958 Speedster; Ralph Lauren’s 1988 Type 959; a 1989 Panamericana concept car with a zip off roof (a one-of-a-kind Panamericana concept car on loan from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany); and Janis Joplin’s psychedelic look 1965 Type 356C Cabriolet. The exhibit Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed “marks the North Carolina Museum of Art’s first design exhibition, exploring the history and development of the Porsche lineage from the 1930s to the present day” as stated on the NC Museum of Art website. The exhibit starts October 12 and runs till January 20, 2014.
