Cape Hatteras in the top 10 beaches again. Cape Hatteras Beaches moves up to the #5 position on Dr. Beach’s Top 10 Beaches for 2015. Last year Cape Hatteras was #6 on the list. Hatteras Island on the Outer Banks is a beautiful island that is about 42 miles long and at its widest parts only about 1 mile wide. The beaches of Cape Hatteras are clean with white sand, wide beaches and in some places isolated. The Cape Hatteras National Seashore stretches for miles along the North Carolina coast. Charter boats are available for marlin, dolphin and red drum fishing. Fishing is big business at the Outer Banks. North Carolina tourism is a booming business for the state. Last year North Carolina had close to 50 million tourist to visit the state. And they set a new record for money spent in North Carolina. Reports just released  state North Carolina tourist spent just over $21 billion last year which is a 5.4% increase from the previous year of 2013. North Carolina is the 6th most visited state in the United States. (California is #1 due to Disneyland and Hollywood!)

Some of the most popular North Carolina attractions that tourist enjoy are: the Outer Banks, the Great Smoky Mountains, Biltmore Estate and Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, The North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, the  USS North Carolina Battleship in Wilmington, Chimney Rock State Park, Grandfather Mountain, The North Carolina Aquarium with four locations (two at the Outer Banks and two at The Crystal Coast) and Carowinds and the NASCAR Hall of Fame near Charlotte.

301 Endless Yard Sale 2015 Dates For This June

The third annual and much-anticipated ” 301 Endless Yard Sale” will take place again this summer in eastern North Carolina the weekend of June 19-20, 2015. Several communities in multiple counties along US 301 will participate. Shops, churches, schools, groups, individual, families and more will be selling, antiques, collectibles and more set up along Highway 301 between Roanoke Rapid to Dunn. The 301 Endless Yard Sale will be over 100 miles beginning in the Johnson County towns of Smithfield, Selma, Kenly, and Benson, and continuing in Wilson County, Halifax County and Harnett Counties.

Each year more and more churches, groups, families, farms, and businesses join in on the sale. It keeps getting bigger and better every June. This event last year was a huge success  bringing in lots of yard sale shoppers for all over eastern United States.

Some sellers will be located along the highway in established visitor sites like Riverside Mill in Weldon, the Tobacco Farm Life Museum in Kenly,and TWM Antiques in Selma. Also families, churches and schools along the route will have vendor setups. If you like yard sales, antiques and travel you will love this unique US 301 Endless Yard Sale! Remember the dates are June 19-20, 2015.

This event is really a lot of fun. Last year there were tents along Highway 301 for miles in the Johnson County and Wilson County areas. Cars were parked all along the highway with people browsing and shopping at each area there were tents set up. It was so much fun to watch all the people as well as do some shopping!

6/19/15 The 301 Endless Yard Sale started today. Here are some pictures form today. People from all over the US are riding along 301 in North Carolina making stops at the endless tents in parking lots, driveways, churches, etc! So much fun.

The skies over Raleigh, Zebulon and Wake County on Memorial Weekend will be full of colorful high-flying hot air balloons. The WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest is a major hot air balloon festival featuring a skills competition, a balloon “glow” at sunset event, a meet and greet the pilot event and tethered balloon rides. The event takes place over the Memorial Weekend starting Friday May 22 through Monday May 25, 2015.

The WRAL  Freedom Balloon Fest will be at Bennett Bunn Plantation located in Zebulon and also at Spring Forest Rd Park. This hot air balloon event is a premier event with over 30 balloon pilots and teams competing. The festival is open to the public. It begins Friday with a mass gathering and landing of the participating balloons then a balloon “glow” at sunset. Then the competition and other events continue thru the weekend and into Monday.

On Saturday and Sunday the public can get a close look at the hot air balloon, talk with the pilots, take a tethered balloon ride, and watch each evening a glow at both Bennett Bunn Plantation and Spring Forest Road Park.  All events at the festival are wind and weather-dependent due to safety reasons.

Dogwood Festival Fayetteville NC 2015 This Weekend

The Dogwood Festival Fayetteville NC 2015 is a well know and popular event in North Carolina. The festival shows off local and national musicians, artists, arts and crafts vendors and educational resource for children. The festival is a three-day event and takes place annually the 4th weekend in April. Head to Fayetteville this weekend for concerts, a street fair, shopping, arts and crafts, food vendors, and the Partnership’s KidStuff area. The streets of downtown Fayetteville turn into a fun-filled place with activities for the entire family to enjoy. Things to do for the children include a carnival, games and rides. Shoppers can walk along the arts and crafts vendor tents. Music lovers will enjoy the concerts and performances that take place during the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival. It’s a great time of year to attend the festival with family and friends and enjoy the southern hospitality of Fayetteville and North Carolina.

There is a concert Friday night with Craig Campbell at 9:00PM at Festival Park on the Century Link Stage.
