See popular southern cook Paula Deen in Charlotte, North Carolina. Paula will be telling Deen family stories, playing cooking games with the audience members and demonstrating how she makes some of her best dishes. Paula will be at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center on September 24, 2014. This cooking show will also be a lot of fun knowing Paula. Laugh and learn how to make some of her dishes all in one show.  There will also be a VIP Meet and Greet. Tickets can be bought at Paula Deen Live in Charlotte.

Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival Last Saturday in September

Fall Fun at the Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival

It’s fall time and that means fall festivals around North Carolina. The 18th Annual Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival is on September 27, 2014. It takes place in downtown Elkin in Surry County. The Great Pumpkin Weigh-in with categories for pumpkins, watermelons and gourds. Growers from up and down the East Coast bring their largest pumpkins to be judged. Some pumpkins can with well over 1000 pounds!

Main Street in Elkin with be lined with vendors with food, crafts, pottery, pumpkin painting, funnel cakes and bakes goods, antiques, sand art, kids activities, a car show and a farmers market. This all takes place on Saturday September 27 from 9:00am till 5:00pm.

RiverFest Celebrating Eden’s Art, History and River Heritage

Celebrate River Heritage in Eden at RiverFest

RiverFest in the historic downtown Leaksville and historic Leaksville Landing on the Dan River in Eden takes place Sept. 19 and 20, 2014. There will be 2 stages with live music by Envision on Friday night and 20 Ride on Saturday night. Others performers are Moosh, John King Band,Against The Nights, The Posse and more. Also the popular and entertaining King BMX Stunt Show will have 3 shows at RiverFest.  Food, arts and crafts, exhibits and educational programs. 5K run and a 1 mile stroll. For more information see RiverFest.

The Dog Olympics is Saturday 9/13/14

Dog Lovers Will Love the Dog Olympics on Saturday in Raleigh!

Did you know that dogs have their own Olympics? The 23rd Annual Dog Olympics takes place Saturday Sept. 13, 2014 at the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s campus in Raleigh. Events will be from 10:00am till 3:00pm with events such as “Best Trick, Doggie Limbo, the High Jump, Longest Tail,  Musical Sit, Howling, and Rollover Rover”. There will also be a Paralympics Parade for dogs with spinal cord injuries. You don’t have to have a dog, everybody  is invited.  A free microchip clinic by the Raleigh Kennel Club will be onsite (one pet per family). The location for the event is the vet school at 1060 William Moore Drive which is near the intersection of Hillsborough Street and Blue Ridge Road (near the NC State Fairgrounds). Kids that love dogs will love this event. The Dog Olympics raise money for local animal rescue groups. Budweiser Clydesdales at the NC State Fairgrounds

Budweiser Clydesdales’ Make Rare Appearance in Raleigh

The N.C. State Championship Horse Show is this week in Raleigh at the NC State Fairgrounds. Making an appearance are the famous Budweiser Clydesdales’. The 10 horses will be giving a show each night September 10-13, 2014 at about 7:30pm each night. This is a rare Raleigh appearance for the Budweiser Clydesdales’, it has been almost 20 years since they were in town last. Clyde, the also famous dalmatian mascot is here too.

NC Mountain State Fair Going On Now

The North Carolina Mountain State Fair is going on now until Sept. 14, 2014. The mountains state fair takes place in Western North Carolina at the WNC Ag Center at I-26 exit 40. It celebrates the people, agriculture, art and tradition that make our western NC and the mountains so great.  Food, arts and crafts, music and rides. This year st sea lions, stilt puppets, K9s in Flight, Josh Knotts & Lea – Extreme Illusions & Escapes, Brad Comedy Hypnotist, Wild Encounters with Carlton Burke and more.
