Paul McCartney Greensboro Coliseum Out There Tour 2014 in October North Carolina! Paul McCartney is coming to the Greensboro Coliseum on Thursday October 30, 2014. This is part of The Out There world tour that McCartney is on now. It is his first appearance ever in Greensboro. The concert will be Paul McCartney music from his entire career including The Beetles, Wings and his solo career. The concert production uses massive screens, video, lasers and fireworks as part of the show. This concert is a must for all generations. Ava Gardner Festival in Smithfield October 3-5, 2014

Did you know that Hollywood movie actress Ava Gardner was from Smithfield, North Carolina? Each year Smithfield has the Ava Gardner Festival. This year it will be October 3-5, 2014.

Friday Oct. 3 is “Fashion Fling” where visitors will enjoy a musical tribute to Frank Sinatra by the Carolina Crooner. The museum will unveil its newest exhibit, “Ava’s Closet” showcasing Ava’s personal clothes and accessories.

Saturday morning will be guest speaker, and Project Runway Season 12 finalist, Justin LeBlanc, from 9am-11am. at the museum. Also on Saturday, tours will be scheduled throughout the day. Visitors will be shown points of interest in Ava’s hometown, including Ava’s birthplace, the Teacherage where she grew up, the Howell Theater where Ava first went to the movies, and will end with a visit to her gravesite at Sunset Memorial Park.

During the Ava Gardner festival, classic Ava Gardner films will showcase the great director and Ava’s dear friend, John Huston including The Killers, The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean and on Sunday the award winning, The African Queen.

Farm Aid 2014 in Raleigh

Farm Aid 2014 will be held in Raleigh at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre on September 13,2014. Willie Nelson and Family, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Jack White, James Johnson, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Delta Rae, Carlende Carter, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Pegi Young and the Survivors, Insects vs Robots. Farm Aid is an all day event with music, food and activities for everyone.

North Carolina Hot Sauce Contest in Oxford Sept. 13

Do you like hot sauce on your food? Then you may want to go to the 8th Annual North Carolina Hot Sauce Contest in historic downtown Oxford on Saturday Sept. 13, 2014. The event will take place from 11:00am to 4:00pm.  Last year there were over 12,000 people attended the NC Hot Sauce Contest. The contest has several different categories of hot sauce:

  • Best NC Mustard Based Sauce
  • Best NC Vinegar Style Sauce
  • Best NC Tomato Style Sauce
  • Best NC Mild BBQ Sauce
  • Best NC Hot BBQ Sauce
  • Most Unique NC Sauce

There is the NC Pepper Eating Contest which is always fun to watch! Breweries and wineries, hot sauce and barbecue sauces to buy. A Car Show, activities for the kids, crafts and local shops open to enjoy. Music by Streamline in the morning and Big Love in the afternoon. NC Hot Sauces and Barbecue Sauces will be competing for the title of North Carolina’s Best! Blowing Rock Music Festival in September

Blowing Rock , North Carolina is having the Blowing Rock Music Festival on September 20, 2014. Entertainment will be from 11:00am to 8:30pm Saturday. A lot of bands and a lot of fun. Bands at the festivals are:

Lazy Daze Cary NC 2014 is Saturday August 23 in downtown Cary. Music, Art and Food. This is the end of summer festival that bring fun to the end of the summer months.
