NC Drivers Can Use Mobile Phones and *HP (*47) to Report Crashes to nc highway patrol

The North Carolina Highway Patrol wants travelers to know they can use their mobile phones to report accidents, drunk drivers, stranded drivers and other highway related problems and concerns by dialing *HP (that’s *47). There is no charge for this call and this service. The North Carolina Highway patrol web site  has the following information on their site-” Motorists traveling through the state who need assistance may dial *47 which is *HP on a cellular phone.”

Remember use *HP on your cell phone to report NC highway crashes, drunk drivers, etc. Easy to remember and use for keeping NC highways safe for all!

 

Beach Music Festival and Food Truck Rodeo at Edgecombe Comm. College Tarboro Campus

The Edgecombe Community College Foundation is having the Beach Music Festival and Food Truck Rodeo on Saturday June 7, 2014 at the Tarboro Campus at 2009 W. Wilson Street in Tarboro, North Carolina.

Gates opening at 11:00am and festival is from noon till 6:00pm.

Interstate 40 Closure NC Mountains on June 5, 2014 for Rock Removal

Interstate 40 closure North Carolina mountains planned for Thursday June 5,f 2014.

Part of Interstate 40 near the North Carolina and Tennessee boarder will be closed by NCDOT on Thursday June 5, 2014 for most of the day. There was a rock fall last week near I-40 mile marker 8 in Haywood County in North Carolina. The I-40 closure is needed so workers can remove boulders and rocks in order of preventing further rock slides from occurring. All lanes of I-40 will be closed until late Thursday night from exit 20 in NC to exit 451 in TN. Travelers should take I- 26 and I -81 on Thursday to avoid the I-40 closure in the Great Smoky Mountains area.

800 Pound Alligator Hit by Car and Killed on Highway 64 Near NC Outer Banks

Alligator hit by car makes news. A 12′ 4″ alligator weighing 800 pounds was hit by a passing vehicle and was killed on Highway 64 near Manns Harbor  in Dare County on the North Carolina Outer Banks. The dead alligator had to be removed from the site by heavy equipment because of it’s size and weight. No injuries were reported. Report are the motorist never stopped when it hit the alligator about midnight a few nights ago.

The Lost Colony Preview Night for Dare County

If you are a Dare County resident tonight May 29, 2014 you can attend Preview Night at The Lost Colony at Waterfront Theatre on Roanoke Island.
