Raleigh and the Wide Open Bluegrass Festival

The Wide Open Bluegrass weekend festival is underway in Raleigh. A Free street festival takes place Friday and Saturday from noon till 11:00PM both days. Music, talent show, dance, and the NC Whole Hog BBQ State Championship plus tons of offer stuff to enjoy. Raleigh Traffic Delays Today Due to Pavement Work

NCDOT road crews are patching pavement on a connector lane on westbound Interstate 440 that is causing delays in traffic today. Hopefully the work will be done by rush hour traffic this evening. The work area is between I-40 and Buck Jones Road.Traffic on westbound Interstate 440 was slowed today as crews patched pavement on a connector lane between Interstate 40 and Buck Jones Road. This is preliminary work  to the I-40/440 rehabilitation project also referred to as “Crawleigh”. The major construction work begins in 2014.

Highway Speed Limits in Triangle Increased

Highway speed limits on three Triangle highways will increase from 65 to 70 mph in the next week. After new speed limit signs are in place on the highways the new speed limit  of 70 mph will take affect. This is from the NCDOT. The highways affected are:

  • Interstate 540 between Interstate 40 and Glenwood Avenue
  • All of N.C. Highway 540, including tolled sections of the Triangle Expressway
  • N.C. Highway 147 between N.C. 540 and I-40.
