Who Was Really “First in Flight” Dispute Grows

North Carolina claims our state is “First in Flight” and the state of Ohio claims they are the “Birthplace of Aviation”, now Connecticut wants in on the action. Connecticut claims Gustave Whitehead was the first to make a powered airplay fly. Whitehead was born in Germany but is a resident of Connecticut. A news conference takes place today to dispute the claim.

NC Fall Foliage 2013 Show

The NC fall foliage 2013 show is well under way. The northern mountains in the Linville and Blowing Rock areas are awash in red, yellow and gold colors. A trip in the area this week should be nice. Mount Mitchell is past peak. The southern mountains in the Franklin and Cashiers area are at a lower elevation and will peak in the next 7-10 days.
